Safety Advisor

Reporting to the Corporate Safety Manager, the Safety Advisor will provide management consulting, training and development, inspections, investigations, ergonomic reviews, and participate in committee assignments related to employee safety. 
Additional responsibilities include providing expertise to client areas including advising of potential safety and health hazards and correcting those situations, interfacing with operations management and the engineering departments to provide input and advice on the safe design and construction of new and renovated buildings, processes and/or equipment and providing expertise to client areas pertaining to Federal, State and Local safety and health standards.
Will also assist client departments with injury and illness investigations, review near miss incidents and cumulative trauma disorders, develop and implement various safety and industrial hygiene guidelines and procedures, develop safety handbooks, policies and training that are consistent with local, state and Federal guidelines/laws.  Will also be responsible for identifying the need for specific training and write proposals and justification to support these programs, provide ergonomic analysis, administer safety inspections and hazard analysis, participate in client safety team meetings and assist in communicating the Contractor Safety Program.
 
A bachelor's degree in safety, environmental safety, industrial hygiene, the sciences, engineering or a related field is require, a minimum of 3 years full time experience in safety and/or industrial hygiene is also required.  Strong interpersonal skills, excellent oral and written communication, effective presentation skills, solid computer skills, including MS Word and Excel and program development experience are required.
 
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time and be able to stand for up to 8 hours.  Must be able to ascend and descend stepladders and stools as well as stoop or bend to perform investigations.
